LogMeIn is a product offered by … wait for it … LogMeIn. It can be a bit confusing in a phone conversation, let us just focus on LogMeIn as it refers to the remote access software.

If you are looking for remote access to your business network, LogMeIn is an excellent solution. It is light-weight, accessible through a web browser (so you can use it anywhere) and has the ability to be setup in a centralized manner.

We use LogMeIn to support all of our clients. The remote access solution not only allows itVinci to assist all of our Saskatoon businesses, it enables all of our Saskatoon (and other cities) clients access their own computers from remote locations.

We have found that our clients take full advantage of the software for working on the road and from home. Remote access not only increases productivity, it gives businesses flexibility for their employees.

All of our clients in the Saskatoon area and across Canada have found remote access a vital technology component for running their business. If you are interested in looking at the possibility of using remote access software for your own business give us a call. Remember, itVinci is your preferred Saskatoon technology provider.

I personally do not have a Blackberry, so it was a bit of a learning curve for me. Yes, IT guys have to learn things from time to time.

I assumed that the Blackberry would allow customization of email settings such as POP3 server, SMTP server, ports and the usual stuff. I was wrong!

You basically have two options. Use a standard email setup that allows you to enter a single mail server (and it assumes POP3 is port 110 and SMTP is port 25) or you can use Outlook Web Access Integration.

The standard email option did not work for this situation, so OWA it is. Let us take a look.

Integrating Your Blackberry Internet Service Account with Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA)

Open Email Settings on the BlackBerry smartphone. You can also refer to the video below (only watch it for the purposes of getting into email settings and then continue below):

Click Set up another email account.

Click on "Set up another email account" on your Blackberry

Choose Other from the list of options.

Choose "Other" email account.

Enter the Email Address and Email Password, then click Continue. If your typing is not that great on a Blackberry, or your password is nearly impossible thanks to your IT guy (sorry about that), choose Show Password (it is not a security risk unless you are doing this in a room full of closely nestled people!).

Email Setup - Entering Username and Password

Email Setup - Entering OWA Information Part Two

Determining Your Mailbox Name in OWA

Login to your OWA account using your web-browser and then follow the steps below:

To locate the mailbox name, complete the following steps:

Log in to your email account using Microsoft Outlook Web Access 2007.

Click the Options button in the upper-right corner of the screen.

On the left navigation menu, click the About link.

On the About screen, locate the line labeled Exchange Mailbox Address. The final portion of this line will read:/cn=Mailbox_Name

The portion of the line after the equals (“=”) sign is the mailbox name. In the above example,Mailbox_Name is the exact name of the mailbox on the Microsoft Exchange server 2007. Typically, the mailbox name is similar to the name of the email account owner’s name or email address.
